IX Podcast 01: Jay London & Myfrienderic

At IX Daily, it is our duty to provide you with an everlasting stash of ear candy. As cheesy as that may sound, we guarantee you we ain’t dicking around. We’ve been around long enough to see all different facets of what the culture brings out from the underground, especially in music. We feel that it is important to remind you that music is made to be listened to. This new project should be proof enough that we mean business. For the first edition of our IX Daily podcast we present to you one full hour of Jay London & Myfrienderic.

There is no way in the world you don’t know either one of these guys by now. If you’ve been going out this summer, you probably heard Jay London, Myfrienderic, or both of them together mixing at Velvet, the new Mme Lee, Circus Afterhours or Piknic Electronik (stream Jay London’s promo mix for Piknic Electronik here). We thought it would be perfect timing to introduce this Podcast to you since we also got the chance to feature their most recent original release featured on IX for their track “Cleopatra” available for free download right here. That being said, the premiere of our podcast is a bit like a summer eulogy. We want you to reminisce all the good times you had during the last 3 months over and over again. What we’ve got here is a great blend of spring/summer dance vibes (like Poise, a personal favourite, and Paul Woolford‘s Untitled), songs by local Montreal artists (Forrest, Paolo Rocco, Kaytranada) and a bit of nostalgia (yes, Battle for Middle You, that tune never gets old – did you miss Julio Bashmore at Velvet?).

We can definitely trust Jay London to score big on this one. This guy has immense versatility when it comes to musical choice. You’d be surprised to know that he comes from an urban/hip-hop background. It’s exciting to see the shift in his style ever since lately, because he does it so well. There are thousands of situations you could be in where you start listening to this mix without having the ability to stop: On the way to work, in the back of the Library, in the morning on the pooper, on the treadmill at the Gym, at a Pre-Drink, and obviously while getting it in. So what are you waiting for? Stream and download the podcast right here, right now. Spread the word to the person sitting next to you, and stay tuned for our upcoming editions.
