I have an embarrassing confession to make. When Mac Miller released his second mixtape Best Day Ever, I may or may not (translating to ‘yes, yes I did’) have had a huge crush on the Malcolm James McCormick, the 21 years-old rapper from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As Mac Miller played at Montreal’s Olympia on Saturday night, the naïve 18 years-old me was brought out.
The rap-artist has a serious Montreal fan-base, as his last two concerts here sold out quicker than your head turns at the sound of your roommate popping open a bottle of wine.
The rapper, blew the crowd away, his lively preformance being engaging and his undenyable swagger enthralling. Throwing down verses in front of a Dj booth, Miller was on his A-game as he paraded back and forth across the stage, trying to close get to as many fans as possible. The all-ages show was packed with a good crowd and good vibes all around, as Miller performed songs from his newest album, Watching Movies With the Sound Off, as well as some old-school classics.
Mac Miller has definitely been climbing the ranks professionally, and if his performance was any indicator to his future performances, I wouldn’t be surprised if his future concerts also sell out.
