Fans of sexy music, today is a great day! Shlohmo and Jeremih have finally, like a year after it was initially announced, released their collaborative 6-track EP, No More. You can download it for free here.
I’ve lost count of the number of mixes I’ve heard this past year and a half that’ve included “Fuck U all the Time” or “No More”, and they always work perfectly, but I’m very much enjoying hearing these super familiar songs within the context that their creators intended. “Dope” is a really dark, slow jam that features Jeremih switching between sing-rapping in the Atlanta style (always give thanks to Migos) for the verses and crooning the choruses with some vocal effects. “Bo Peep” is a straight-up RnB hook up jam with some fantastic handclap action (also released previously and heavily used in mixes). “Let It Go” uses a slowed down sample of “Cha Cha Cha” by MC Lyte (also used to great effect by Jay-Z and Foxy Brown in their classic ’90s jam, “Sunshine”); its call and response hook is probably why I can’t stop listening to it. “The End” closes things out, with Chance the Rapper showing up to spit some bars and sounding kind of like Young Thug? and there’s a jungle pan flute sound in the slower second movement… suffice to say that it’s definitely the weird song on the EP.
No More is a quick listen that works well on repeat. It blurs together in a pleasing, but not boring way, creating an atmosphere conducive to both napping and sexing… Perfect!
