Empress Of, aka Lorely Rodriguez, a singer-songwriter from New York, just released her electro-pop debut album Me, which includes the new single “How Do You Do It.” The singer released the video of the latter and explained that she spent “23 hours of [her] day driving, flying, shaving in weird bathrooms, sleeping in motels, hotels, floors… TO GET TO THATone hour of bliss on stage.” Thus, the clip, which was directed by Molly Hawkins, was meant to show a different side of an artist’s life.
You indeed see her hopping from one place to another before landing on stage where colourful lights cover her, making her seem like the only person existing in the venue. What makes the video very original it’s the way it’s shot, as if it were a vlog. It makes Empress Of very relatable, and you catch her behind the scenes being herself, doing “normal” things, preparing herself for a show. So for those of you who wondered, “how does she do it?” The clip is the response.
