Always looking for something fresh, I was ecstatic when I first heard Revolution by Sweden’s Elias. Eight months after the original, an acoustic version is available in video form, and it’s far more beautiful. Drawing influences from FKA Twigs and Corbin (Spooky Black), Elias’ unique soulful voice soars between a deep rich baritone and a falsetto. Accompanied by violin and piano lines and a small choir, Revolution is powerful and emotional, capable of moving even the most stoic of us.
It may sound like a call for an uprising, but instead it’s a triumphant cry for everyone to come together. As Elias himself had to say, “Revolution is a tribute to those who stand up against old and worn habits in favor of the new and beautiful ways of doing things. Or it might just be a love song. This acoustic version is intended to inspire and give relief to everyone who strives for a more beautiful and better place.”
Head over to his youtube to hear the original as this just might be the sleeper hit of the year. And look out for his debut EP, Warcry, due for November 6th. At only 19, big things are coming for Elias.
