There has been some improvements made when it comes to body-image social issues when it comes to modeling, aka, the term 'plus-size modeling'.
It's a term I am still sort of uncomfortable with, because, well, there shouldn't be a separation between regular modeling and plus-size modeling in the first place. Anywho, this comes with the news that IMG, an international modeling agency, has now launched a division called Brawn catering to plus-size modeling for men (say what?) –
Zach Miko is the first to be signed to this division, and got Tyra Banks to back him up on social media too. He had his debut being featured on Target's E-commerce website, when IMG discovered him and contacted him by sliding into his DMs on instagram. The dude is massive (in terms of being a big man) measuring 6-foot,-6-inch with a 40-inch waist. It's the first time any agencies have given any attention to men this size, which is way overdue if you ask me.
Hopefully this sets a good example for other agencies to follow, let's get rid of body-image stigma and make it all inclusive.
